Seasonal Energetics: Spring

Sunday, March 15th  2-4 pm

How would it feel to live in tune with the rhythms of nature? To truly eat, sleep, move, and breathe in a way that felt harmonious with the world around you?

Herbal medicine traditions such as Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) have always placed great value in living in tune with the rhythms of nature, a concept of which we westerners have begun to try and adopt back into our lives in this age of modernity.

These traditions have specific herbs, foods, and therapies for each season to help one’s body stay in balance with the seasons.

While it may not be possible to completely escape the confines of our modern world and return to a state where we can adopt different lifestyles as the seasons change, it is possible to bring some of this wisdom into your life in ways that are still beneficial to your health and well being.

This class series will take an in-depth look at the energetics of the seasons and how this affects your body and your state of health, and apply this knowledge in easy-to-use ways so you can begin to match your body to the rhythms of nature.

We will discuss energetics from an Ayurvedic, TCM, and Western herbal perspective; touching on ancient traditions as well as their modern counterparts. We will cover herbs, foods, and lifestyle habits for each season to help bring, and keep, your body into harmony with the world around you.

An understanding of energetics is helpful but not necessary as we will cover the energetics of each season, herb, food, and their effects on the person. Each class is a stand-alone class, though of course, you will benefit most from taking them all!

These will be longer lecture-style classes so come prepared to take notes, discuss, and of course, taste some herbs. You will leave class with a custom tincture blend designed by yourself to aid in your quest for seasonal wellness.

Seed to Bloom: A Plant Spirit Medicine Series Part 1

Saturday, March 21st, 2-3:30 pm

At the heart of the Plant Spirit Medicine Approach is the understanding that transformation must take place at every level of our being for true healing to take place. Just as it happens for plants, every initial call for change, healing, or new life starts with a seed. Plants undergo radical transformation to become something new just as humans do when in the process of healing.

Join me in this class as we dive into the Plant Spirit Medicine Approach to plant healing on the Spring Equinox. We will discuss the practice of “Heart Perception” and what it means to tune into healing from a psycho-spiritual perspective. We will also discuss some of the first local medicinal plants in this region to pop up in spring and set our intention for the next cycle by creating “Intention Plants”. Let’s go deep to discover the ways that plants can aid us at this integral time of the Spring Equinox toward renewed growth, change and healing.

Class may be taught at Lee Martinez Park (Weather permitting). Bring appropriate clothing.
