Blog - October 2020 Update

It’s our favorite month

We love October, fall feels like it’s here to stay, sweaters are pulled from closets, boots are dusted off and oiled for wetter weather, and a turn inwards begins, both by the natural world and instinctively in ourselves.

While this year things are sure to feel different with the ongoing chaos of our world, we are here to remind you that this is the perfect time of year to take moments whenever you can to nourish yourself.

Find ways to slow down, to take pauses, to be outside and marvel at the changing of the colors, and do what nature does and release what no longer serves you.

If this year has taught us anything it’s that life as we knew it is never going to be the same. We have been forced to drastically change our day to day lives, and for many this has forced us to examine the way we were living, and determine if it’s the way we want to keep on living in this world.

Do we want to work at the same hurried pace? Or do we want more time with those we love, spent over meals and real conversations?

Whatever changes this year has forced upon you, this is the time to take a good long look at them, and decide what needs to stay and what needs to go.

We have been hard at work making some changes of our own to adapt to the ever-changing needs of our community this year, and we will continue to do so as best as we can.

The biggest thing we will be offering this year is online product making classes.

Typically we offer our Holiday Gift Making series starting this month, but since we still can’t have in-person classes inside our store we are moving them online.

This will be great news for all of you who don’t live near us who have been asking for years for online classes…sorry it took us so long! But we are excited to make it happen.

They will be offered via an online platform where you can watch videos and download handouts for each of the products you would like to learn to make. We will also be creating product-making kits that you can buy separately, this way if you have all the ingredients already you don’t get anything extra, but if you want a fully done-for-you type of setup we’ve got you covered.

We are hoping to have this all ready by November so you have plenty of time to get everything together to make hand-made holiday gifts. Be sure to stay tuned for next month’s newsletter when we roll this all out.

We are also expecting this to be a holiday season unlike any other. Fortunately, we got some better systems set up with online ordering, and we will be offering curbside pickup and even delivery for those who are local to us, but we encourage you to start your holiday shopping early as we don’t know what the potential impacts will be if we have to close our doors to the public again.

We love seeing your faces so let’s hope we don’t have to do this but we need to be prepared nonetheless!

Thank you again for supporting your small apothecary!
